Anastasia Beverly Hills Prism Palette: Review
It seems that brands are releasing their holiday beauty collections earlier and earlier each year and Anastasia Beverly Hills is no exception. The latest release from Anastasia Beverly Hills, the holiday limited edition Prism Palette ($42) was a best kept secret, in an age of leaks (which we all know well with the Subculture palette).
The palette includes fourteen shades consisting of ultra-matte, duo chrome, and metallic finishes. The packaging includes a velvet black and gold cover, reminiscent of the Modern Renaissance and Subculture palette. A dual- ended brush is also included, such as other ABH palettes.
According to the Anastasia Beverly Hills site, the shades are described as:
Lucid: Duo chrome white gold with pink reflect
Eden: Ultra-matte coral pink
Unity: Ultra-matte nude ochre
Sphinx: Metallic warm bronze
Osiris: Metallic midnight violet with red reflect
Sphere: Ultra-matte electric green-yellow
Obsidian: Ultra-matte deep black
Dimension: Duo chrome silver-grey with pink reflect
Parallel: Ultra-matte truffle
Pyramid: Metallic yellow gold with green reflect
Throne: Metallic blackened blue-green with multicolor reflect
Saturn: Ultra-matte terracotta
Eternal: Metallic violet copper
Lure: Ultra-matte ashy lilac

Just like my other reviews, I used this palette for a week, and created various looks, many of which were out of the box. I went in with the intentions of this palette being similar to the Subculture palette- which was ultra pigmented and had kickup. However, I was pleasantly surprised that the shadow formulas were extremely similar to my holy grail, the Modern Renaissance.
For the first look, I used concealer as a primer and set the lid with Unity, a universal neutral shade. I then popped the colors Eden and Parallel on the crease and then used the stunning gold Pyramid shade on my lid with my finger. I finished off the look with Ciate London Voodoo lippie to add a vampy vibe. The shadow did not crease and stayed put all day. I really love the vibrant gold and did not need to amp up the color with any fix plus, etc.
The below look may be one of my favorites I've ever created. I knew I wanted to do a halo eye and incorporate the color Osiris. I used the shades Eden, Saturn and Parallel for the crease. I then placed the shade Osiris on the outer and inner corners. Lucid was then placed in the middle of the lid. I noticed I had to scrape the top layer of this shadow to get the extreme pigment I was looking for. I love how this look came out and got so many compliments. Tip: to create sharp lines, use scotch tape while applying shadow and then once your shadow is done, remove the tape.
When the palette was first revealed, Throne, a stunning teal shade, was what peaked my interest. I used this shade to create a grungy, rock glam look. I used the shades Saturn and Parallel for the transition and used Throne for the lid. I found myself using fix plus to intensify the color. To create an unexpected touch, I used Sphere for the inner corner.
The below purple look was inspired by the shade Dimension. Once again I used Saturn and then used Lure to give it a mauvey look. Dimension was applied to the lid and then the crease was smoked out slightly with Parallel. The eye look was stunning and stayed put. I used a purple lipstick Mirage by Lime Crime, to finish off the purple vibe.
Overall thoughts:
I cannot put down this palette -- I've used it almost every single day since I purchased it. There's a look for day to night, glam to over the top extra. The possibilities are endless. There is barely any kickup in the shadows and the pigment is there. As I mentioned above, the shade Lucid needed to be scraped a bit to get the pigmentation underneath. For everyday looks, I used Eternal and Sphinx a bunch of times and absolutely love them. Overall I think this is a must if you love to experiment with color, especially during the holiday season. Remember it's limited edition, for all those ABH palette collectors (which I'm becoming). The palette is available on the ABH website, and at Ulta and Sephora.
