Too Faced Peaches and Cream Collection: All that peachy?
Too Faced Cosmetics is known for its eye catching vibrant packaging with each collection they release and the new permanent Peaches and Cream collection is no exception. I nearly drooled when Trendmood (my go to for all beauty news) posted sneak peeks of the exclusive Sephora collection months earlier and knew it had to be mine.
On Aug. 31 - launch day, I visited my local Sephora to get a closer look at the must have collection. In store, I spotted the (of course) always adorable Too Faced gondola adorned with peachy vibes and beauty guru pics.
I decided to give the Peach Perfect Comfort matte foundation, ($36) the Sweetie Pie Radiant Matte bronzer, ($30) the Peach Blur translucent smoothing finishing powder ($30) and the Peach Kiss Moisture matte long wear lipsticks ($21) a try.
For starters, the collection smells like sweet fig cream and peaches -- I mean who doesn't love the smell of peaches?
I gave all of these products a test run for one week, to see how they perform.
The Test
As an oily skin gal, I was looking forward to trying this foundation, especially since it claims to be a comfort matte one. I own the Too Faced Born This Way foundation which is full coverage, but I have to admit sometimes it feels too heavy and even cakey to wear, so I often opt for my Maybelline matte and poreless one.
On the Sephora site, the foundation claims to be transfer resistant, medium coverage, and last for 14 hours.
For the week, I used the foundation in light beige with the Too Faced Hangover Replenishing primer, then switched to Soap and Glory blot primer, then the Peaches and Cream cooling matte primer and then used no primer at all. It's interesting how primer can make or break a product and with this one, there was certainly was a difference.
When I used the product with the Too Faced Hangover replenishing primer, the foundation literally lasted all day, did not transfer and looked flawless. I am usually a full coverage person, but I have to tell you I was really loving the natural lightweight look especially for the warm weather. See pic below:
At the end of the day, my forehead was alittle oily, which is normal but it wasn't over the top oily like other foundations perform.
The next couple of days, I decided to give the Soap and Glory"One Heck of a Blot" primer a go, I truly love this especially for the price. This primer works well for my matte skin, and I found this worked with the Too Faced foundation, but it did not last as long on my face.
The next couple of days, I tried the deluxe Too Faced Primed and Peachy Cooling Matte Perfecting Primer (a.k.a. the longest primer name ever) which I received from Sephora with an online purchase. It claims to be a cooling, mattifying primer that blurs, smooths, and brightens the complexion. This promises to deliver a mattifying, soft-focused finish with lightweight, comfortable wear and claims to last up to 16 hours and offer 12 hours of shine control. To this I say no, no and no. I really did not like the way this looked on my skin. For some reason the primer was very patchy to apply, and had to be blended out really well. I had high hopes for this since it was meant to be used with the foundation, but I was wrong. I feel like the staying power was not there and was not pleased with the overall look, once the foundation was applied.
The last couple of days I used no primer at all to see if there was a difference in formula. Without primer, the face felt sticky - ( the phone to ear and face gets stuck and makeup gets on phone sticky) You definitely need to set it with powder maybe even a powder foundation if you opt for no primer. It also did not last all day, which is not surprising since primer helps the product stay longer.
This foundation did photograph well, however there was a bit of flashback.
Overall, I really love this foundation, I think it's the perfect natural finish and is buildable. On a given day I would use 1 and a half to two pumps for my face.
Sweetie Pie Bronzer
The Sweetie Pie Bronzer may look shimmery, but the gold sheen is just for show. Once a brush hits the product, the gold immediately disappears and the bronzer is matte. I really like the smoothness of this bronzer and the color. Sometimes it is tough for me to find a color that is not too warm and this is the perfect mix of warm and cool and I feel like it complemented my skin really well. (Although let's be honest it pained me to ruin the perfect gold shimmer overspray).
I would compare this to my Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzer which is my fav but has recently been breaking me out. This will definitely be my new go to.
Peach Blur Translucent Smoothing Finishing Powder
This is the one product that I truly asked myself "Do I need this?" Let's just get it over with and say the packaging won me over. I used this as a finishing powder all over the face and I liked the result. I'm not sure if it does anything extra special but it does help blend out everything well and provides a filter like finish.
It gives a subtle sheen and does control shine -- is this a must however? -- probably not.
Peach Kiss
Let's be real have you seen a more perfect lipstick? I mean come on peach imprints! Ugh Too Faced, the way you suck me into your packaging. These peach kiss peaches and cream lippies are matte but are not transfer proof. I noticed some color rubbed on my glass while drinking, etc. however color was still on my lips. This formula is super soft and creamy which is not common for a traditional matte lippie. Although once again it pained me to ruin the perfect imprint, I had to do it for all of you but truly love this formula. I do own the Too Faced La Creme lippies but these are different and not as slippery to apply.
Overall, I really am enjoying this collection. I know there is a matte eyeshadow palette also part of this collection, but since I own the Sweet Peach palette I feel I don't need it. (Plus let's be real, I am dying to get my hands on the new Huda Beauty Desert Dusk palette- do you guys want a review on that?)-- Getting back on the subject, I did swatch the blushes and highlighters apart of this peaches and cream collection and to be honest, was not feeling them. They were super patchy and creamy which I find difficult to apply. I am happy with what I chose from the collection and will continue to use them. What did you all pick up from the collection? Let me know down below?
